FARKAS IN AMERICA
A one woman show recounting the life of Jewish Austrian comedian Karl Farkas as a refugee in the USA (1938-46).

- Satirical poems in English by Corinna Kahnke and Michelle Eley inspired by Farkas’ German book of poems “Farkas entdeckt Amerika” (1942)
- Viennese songs from the 1920s and 30s to texts by Farkas, Jewish tango songs, French chansons
- Jewish music arranged for guitar solo by Ellen Whitaker
- Screening of the short jazz film “Boogie Woogie Dream” (USA 1944, 13 min) starring Lena Horne and Pete Ammons with a script by Farkas
- Flamenco dance choreographed by Maria-Luisa Rizo
