Between Melbourne and Vienna
Book Presentation & Concert with Johanna Beisteiner author reading, guitar, vocals)
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Carl Ludwig Pinschof’s death, Johanna Beisteiner has written a narrative in honor of the Viennese banker, entrepreneur, and Austrian Honorary Consul in Melbourne. The book will be published in May 2026 by Verlag Margarete Tischler.
The volume explores Pinschof’s extraordinary life between Vienna and Melbourne, his love for the opera singer Elise Wiedermann, as well as the political tensions and crises around 1900 in Australia and beyond. In a time of global upheaval, the book offers an impressive perspective on how closely the present and history intertwine. The narrative is further enriched with historical images from museums and previously unpublished private archives.
The event combines author reading, guitar, and vocals with new arrangements and original compositions, creating a unique evening of literature, music, and history.
After the presentation, guests are invited to a small reception with wine and bread.
